And the award goes to…

The other day I mentioned php. Someone asked me what it stood for. I honestly didn't know. 'I just code or I just hack it' wasn't my best response! php (or PHP) stands for hypertext preprocessor. Correct. It's like a fool's errand. PHP actually is an acronym for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor." What? Wait, what tomfoolery is this - that's recursive, people! Yes. Perhaps my "I just use it" stance is justified.

Creative Market resources

Free Mondays! I've enjoyed the last 17+ weeks greatly and picked up fantastic freebies for web design, background images for my slides, simply great ideas just by viewing. I've also paid for a few items... shhhhh! I know, I know. I really like free, but I also really like this collective's approach. It's easy to find something to fall in love with. OTHER AWESOMENESS Unsplash.com {https://unsplash.com/} for excellent images! That's taken in Glencoe, U.K. by Rab Ritchie.

beFunky Photo Editor

Seems as if I had NOTHING to say the day I created this. Egads! Here goes: I like the beFunky photo editor. It's worth playing around with. Where can you get it? Find in at the Chrome App store or tab or on the beFunky website. The images with this post were alterations of a professional photo taken by Todd Paris.

A new office

There is something incredibly appealing about this: http://dornob.com/tiny-8-sq-meter-apartment-is-full-of-space-saving-secrets/ Okay, a few things: I'd like to visit Paris I'd like a nanny I'd like to redo my office (perhaps whole living area) to streamline it I like the light that comes through the window. I like the idea of everything having a place to be. Imagine this room with just a bowl of yarn on a small side table. That speaks to me. When? Not until my son is in his twenties. That means that I would be…

Road map

Okay, so this is one of those 'I just love easel.ly' moments. Doing a session on screencasting today. Here's my thoughts on how it should go... ROAD MAP I should log back in later and tell you how it really went. (The best laid plans...) The link above is in case the embed (below) does not work. easel.ly

Tech Free Challenge

It can be challenging to spend up to two hours doing something new or different. This is especially true if you've got deadlines looming. At UAF eCampus, the designers meet about every six weeks to do something different. On Tuesday of last week we got creative with paper, ribbon and stamps (plus a few stickers). That's actually a bit tame. This group has had knot tying and fire making challenges, telling an impromptu story, making books from scratch, origami folding and more. “There is good evidence that…

Last Tuesday my son and I went with many designers and a nice gent by the name of Alan Levine, to the transfer station. We were doing a 'daily create.' Take photos of textures and do a mash up. Most excellent! Here is my result. Image link to Flickr in case it does not show up here.

What could I do with a Raspberry Pi

I don't own a motorbike: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1216528 - so getting data via a OBD2 Data Recorder isn't interesting to me. Since I need to improve/refresh my programming skills, I could use it for PHP or Python. Ruby is on the way down the list {TIOBE programming list http://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html } The TIOBE list tracks Turing complete programming languages which have a Wikipedia entry. Shopping list: Raspberry Pi TV - better already have one of these HDMI cable 4GB Class SD card or 8GB - see http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards You can get…
