I had to listen

Dear God — you gave me so many things to think about today, but no pen in my purse to write them down. So, I had to listen carefully to see if I could remember them all.

I had to listen.

  • Spend time with you.
  • Binge watching Hulu? Try binge reading my favorite books of the Bible.
  • Making lists of all I need to do?
    • Try changing the way those lists look to remember that You are carrying me through, You provide.
  • Sharing on social media? There are great things to say about You.

For all the things I’ve been hurting about. You are the answer. Jesus is with us. God provides.

Been angry about stupid things?

People – if you think I’ve been angry and petty. Please forgive me. My heart hurts, but it is the needle in my eye that I need to take out first.

Angry about the way certain family members act towards others? Stop telling friends about it, or chatting with family about all that is wrong. Go to the person and ask for forgiveness and invite them to pray. Ask them if there is something they’d like you to pray about with them or for them.

What is wrong?

The lyrics from one of this morning’s songs by Elevation Worship say it better than I can.

I need you to soften my heart
And break me apart
I need you to open my eyes
To see that You’re shaping my life
All I am, I surrender
Give me faith to trust what you say
That you’re good and your love is great
I’m broken inside, I give you my life
I need you to soften my heart
And break me apart
I need you to pierce through the dark
And cleanse every part of me
All I am, I surrender
Give me faith to trust what you say
That you’re good and your love is great
I’m broken inside, I give you my life
‘Cause I may be weak
But Your spirit strong in me
My flesh may fail
My God you never will
I may be weak
But Your spirit strong in me
My flesh may fail
My God you never will
